For our Cuba 2014 trip we joined a tour organized by Teachers' Travel ( www.teacherstravel.com ). We left home on Jan. 26 flying to Toronto via Vancouver, overnighting there and then flying to Havana the next day. Our tour lasted 2 weeks. We left Havana very early Feb. 10 and got back to home about 9:30 pm. the same day - a long day but somehow going home made it easier.
This is a new tour for Teachers' and we were fortunate to have Susan Montgomery along on the trip as the company representative as she did the "on the ground" research and was able to make the amendments to the itinerary appropriate to the intent of the trip.
Our tour was operated by Gaviota Tours with the knowledgeable and enthusiastic Adriana as our guide and the unfailing expertise of our driver, Joni. Many thanks to both of them for making the trip as successful as it was enjoyable.
The tour began and ended in Havana (days 1,2,3 & 14. We went west to ViƱales (days 4, 5, & 6) and the remaining days in the Trinidad de Cuba area (hotel at Ancon).
Our bus "1979." provided by TransGaviota - lots of room and perfectly sized for narrower roads
Joni, our driver with incredible skills of navigating highways, byways and streets clogged with carts and taxis.
