The first part of our trip - We flew via Heathrow to Iceland for a one week tour in Reykjavik and then partly around Iceland. Although just below the arctic circle, the island nation is surprisingly warm, due to the Gulf Stream moderating effect.
Iceland has all you could want to see of volcanoes and glaciers with lots of the hotpools and geysers as well.
Part two of our trip was to Islay and the Highlands via Heathrow and Glasgow. Again, we were impressed with the moderate climate, the good food and the superb Scotches. Our Scotland trip was divided roughly into thirds: a nature tour, travel through the countryside and and a careful examination of all things whisky.
